It’s a Jeff Buckley kind of morning.
This song is almost 17 years old. 17 YEARS OLD.
Good Christ.
I present Grand Champeen, performing “To The Ides” from the utterly brilliant Dial T For This on “ACL presents Satellite Sets”. It’s four of my absolute favorite people on the planet, playing one of my favorite songs from my favorite of the band’s records.
Things like this make me seriously reconsider my decision to skip SXSW in 2011, because Austin is the only place I get to see them anymore, after visits in Indianapolis, St. Louis, Seattle, and Lawrence, Kansas, and a handful of other places I’m sure I’m forgetting.
Start the weekend off the right way: Alejandro Escovedo — “Always A Friend” live at Waterloo Records.

Grant Lee Buffalo — Tecumseh
1:07 of awesome. One of my fondest concert memories was when The Captain (Lane, not Morgan) and I went to see Grant Lee Buffalo at Bogart’s in Cincinnati. We found ourselves right up front, pressed against the security barricade in front of bassist/keyboardist Paul Kimble, who grinned when he saw us singing along to every song.
A monkey eating watermelon.
Yeah.

Agile, Mobile, Hostile: A Year With Andre Williams
The full feature film is now available on Hulu.
I’ve been working for/with Twangfest for 9 years, and the greatest thing I’ve done, the thing I’m proudest of, is convincing my fellow board members to book Andre Williams for Twangfest 13 sight unseen. The man is a legend and a treasure.
And batshit crazy.
And the subject of some of my favorite musician photos I’ve ever shot.
(The dashboard doesn’t show that the words in the last sentence link to those photos of which I speak. I’ve italicized them, just because.)
This is the size of the video shot by the iPhone 4 on a 1920x1080 monitor. Unreal.
