Spent the afternoon with my best-pal-former-roommate Lane in/around Louisville today. Had some good beer and lots of potatoes at New Albanian Brewing Company, then a late afternoon trip to the cinema for Moonrise Kingdom. It was the Wes Andersoniest of all the Wes Anderson movies, and a goddamned delight. I’m going to be muttering “Holy Christ! What am I looking at?” for months. Reminded me a lot of My Girl, to be honest, due in no small part that Kara Hayward (Suzy, the young female protagonist in the film) looks more than a little like Anna Chlumsky, but Jared Gilman (Sam) is no Macaulay Kulkin. I realize I’m late to the party, but I’m so happy Lane had it in his holster as something to do.
